Sewers are expensive. Within West Linn some are approaching 100 years old and currently need attention. As sewer pipes age, they may allow water infiltration from rain events which drives the need for increased capacity down stream at treatment plants. Replacing all the pipes by trenching and patching is the most expensive option. West Linn is utilizing the latest technology to maximize our investment in our infrastructure and not disrupt our roads or flow of commerce.
In addition, it costs only 1/3 of traditional trench and replace method. We currently have 134,148 feet of poor condition pipe. Utilizing the traditional method of replacement, it would take over 30 years to replace all that pipe. CIPP allows us to address it in about 10 years. Insituform allows a jointless, seamless, pipe-within-a-pipe to rehabilitate our pipes. Here is a brief video that shows how the CIPP is installed.
