Recently I attended EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operator Course) training for several public safety agencies at Portland International Raceway. The course consisted of high-speed driving, slow vehicle precision maneuvers, high-speed avoidance course, PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) maneuvers, and high-speed high-risk stop scenarios. These training courses keep our officers sharp, maintain certification, and affords them the opportunity to learn new techniques. The sad fact is that emergency vehicle crashes account for majority of Officer deaths across the nation.
West Linn Officer Vince Moreschi co-instructed the course and several West Linn Officers, including our Chief, attended the day’s activities. Below are some highlights of the training.
