The city council race is without much controversy for the first time since I moved here 18 years ago. We have two fine candidates running for the two positions. Both are highly qualified.
Jenni Tan is serving as council president, and has been doing a good job.
The new candidate, Thomas Frank, has worked his way up through the neighborhood association, the planning commission and volunteered on several other committees. My first experience with him was on the citizen PAC formed to get the levy passed to replace our decrepit police station. His business acumen was immediately recognized. He also put together and ran our website.
I currently serve with him on the citizen oversight committee reporting to the council on the planning and construction of that new public safety facility. He digs into the details and asks the questions that most of us take for granted.
Thomas Frank will make a fine city councilor.
