Today, West Linn gained 75 new jobs.  A new Walmart Neighborhood Marketplace opened its doors in the Robinwood Shopping Center.  Opening ceremonies started at 7:30am with the help of our local Boy Scout Troop, West Linn High School Band and Cheerleaders, West Linn Chamber of Commerce, and various elected officials.  During the ceremony, Walmart also awarded over $10,000 in grants to various community organizations – Operation Homefront, Paws Animal Shelter, the future West Linn teen center, the West Linn Food Pantry, the West Linn Police Department, and West Linn High School.

As I walked through the store, I was surprised of how clean, fresh, and bright everything was.  This was not your typical Walmart store, and only focuses on grocery and pharmacy.  The surrounding businesses also had their doors open in anticipation of increased traffic.
